Hi all, Here I'm going to post a dish which no one will like it but after some variations it became all time favorite in my family.
I learnt it from yogambalsundar mam. Thanks to her.
1st I tried it and everyone loved it and now a days asking for upma. I too don't like it earlier but after this variation I too love it.
You don't believe me, even my kids loved it and asking for upma, nowadays. You too try it and enjoy.
Let's get into recipe.
Ingredients
Roasted rava - 1/2 kg
Mustard seeds as needed
Cumin seeds - 1tsp
Curry leaves,
Ginger - 1 tsp
Chilli - 5
Ulunthu - 2tsp,
Chana Dal - 2tsp
Asafoetida- 1/2tsp
Cashew (optional) - 15
Water - 1 1/2 litres
Milk - 1/2 litre
Ghee- 2tblsp
Oil - 2tblsp
Salt as required
Method
1) roast rava even if it is roasted one for few seconds along with cumin seeds. After this add in needed salt for upma in this rava and mix well after it cool down.
2) add oil in a pan and fry Mustard seeds after they flutter add in curry leaves and add ulunthu, Chana Dal, chilli, Asafoetida fry these for few seconds.
3) add in the Cashews and fry it until golden brown.
4) add water and milk in this.
5) let iT boil.
6) then add the roasted rava In it slowly and with continue stirring and keep the stove I. Low flame.
7) stir continuously and after water drains add in Ghee ,close and rest for 10 minutes.
8) now it is ready to serve. Serve it with coconut chutney or with banana 🍌.
It tastes good.
